Notice of Public Comment Period

by Howard Horton, Executive Director, NEIB

On March 13, 2020, Cambridge College acquired the New England College of Business and Finance (NECB). Former staff and faculty from NECB transitioned to Cambridge College. Cambridge College received teach-out authority for the former NECB programs, and students were provided the opportunity to enroll in a teach-out version of their program at Cambridge College. Today, Cambridge College has sought and has been approved to offer all of the former NECB degree programs at the Associate, Bachelor, and Master degree levels. It is in the process of applying for approval of the Doctor of Business Administration.

NECB, as a result of its acquisition by Cambridge College, no longer needs separate degree-granting authority as conferred by the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education, and as such its degree-granting authority is being revoked. This formal notice is being posted during the open comment period.

The public comment period for the revocation is open: https://www.mass.edu/bhe/publicnotice.asp

Please send your comments regarding the revocation of the New England College of Business and Finance’s degree-granting authority before 5:00pm on December 12, 2020 to:

Email: cbrown@dhe.mass.edu or

Postal mailed to:

Massachusetts Department of Higher Education

Attn: Cynthia Brown, Associate Commissioner

Because the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education continues to work remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is strongly recommended that comments be submitted via email as there are delays in processing and receiving mail.

Very truly yours,
Howard E. Horton, Esq.
